MILTON.
The polling for the Mayoralty of Milton on Tuesday laßt did not create mtidh excitement. There was a sufficient quantity of snow about the streets to permit of the candidates and voters having a good deal of it thrown at. them by some hilarious spirits who took no interest in municipal matters. There were two candidates, the late Mayor, Mr Cunninghame, and Mr Goodall, who on previous occasions has held that position. The polling resulted as follows i — WEST WARD. Cunninghame ... ... ... 15 , Goodall 38 EAST WARD. Cunninghame ... 14 Goodall 29 SOUTH WARD. Cunninghame ... ... , 29 Goodall 17 TOTALS. Goodall 84 Cunninghame 58 Majority for Goodall ... 26 The Returning Officer, Mr R. R. Jones, declared the poll at about half-past four o'clock. Mr Cnnninghame addressed a large body of electors, who were present, and attributed his defeat to the exertions of Mr H. White, and the rival feelings of the different ends of the township. Mr White replied, and a vote of thanks to the Return ing Officer, concluded the proceedings.
