ELOCUTION.
A CLASS TO BE COMMENCED. A meeting was held in the Forester's Hall last evening at the instance of Mr J. H. Kirby, with the object of forming an elocution class. There were about fifteen gentlemen i present, and the Mayor presided. In his opening remarks Mr .Ransom commended the class to all present, xnd expressed regret that he had. not an opportunity of attending a class such as the one they had met to form. Mr- Kirby explained that he con-, vened the meeting as ho thought that he could be of assistance to any one wishing to become efficient ■ speakers. When sufficient wore enrolled he would give a preliminary lecture later. Upon the motion of Mr ,L; G. Armstrong and Dr. Roid-Maekay, the desirability of forming a class was affirmed. The membership fee was fixed at 2s (xl, this being thought sufficient to pay the expenses. All present, formed themselves into a committee to obtain new members. It was decided to hold another meeting upon"the 30th inst.
