Charles Ronald M'Pherson, charged at the Magistrate's Court, Christchurch' yesterday with breaking and entering and theft from the Clnwch of' Christ and the Spiritualists' Church, reserved his defence and was committed for trial. Yesterday morning a complete set of man's clothes was found on. the beach at Happy Valley, Wellington, four miles from the city, giving the appearance that someone had gone into the sea. to bathe and lost his life. Among documents found in a leather bag lying near were .papers relating to the Shearers" Union and bearing the name of P. F. D'Arcy. The police searched yesterday afternoon, but found no traces of the body.

The national flag of Ireland, which has boon purchased by a .number of patriotic sons of Erin, was unfurled to the breeze this morning from the staff of the Masonic Hotel. The flag, which is of emerald green cloth, emblazoned with a representation of the harp and crown, is a handsome piece of blurting, and will serve as a useful decoration on. public occasions. We understand the flag will be placed in the custody of Father Cahill.
