PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB'S TOURNAMENT. , This tournament Avas opened yesterday in good Aveather. Prouse, Fisher, and Lieut. StoAV, from "Wellington, Avere present. Miss Hartgill, Mr J. Hartgill, and Mr Eraser, from Dannevirke, are taking part. Miss Hartgill, in the ladies' singles, has to play off Avith Mrs Payne. In the men's singles, Prouse defeated Fisher, 9—-4. The Times states that the final of the ladies' doubles Avas one of the best matches of the day, and the AA r inners, Miss Hartgill and Mrs Watson, and the losers, Mrs Payne and Miss Mason, have good cause to be proud of their performances.
