CORRESPONDENCE.

.WOODVILLE v. AOTEA MATCH. (To the Editor.) Sir, — In answer to Mr H. Monteith's letter last night, I have to state that his statement in regard to myself is devoid of .tho slightest j foundation. It is not true, that my j men were taken off tho field owingto a player being ordered off tho field by the referee. Tho Aotea team left the field under the impres- j sion that the game was finished, and I called for three cheers for the Woodville team. Is it usual for a team to do so when they leave the field? Then, again why did I approach the referee immediately after the game, and ask him -why he had stopped the j game before time?' No one with the I slightest spark of intelligence would think so if I had taken my men off. Mi" Monteith, as in football, is very fond* of the limelight- being turned on him, and so he rushes into print in order not only to get the light fully turned onto him, but makes a. mis-statemoiit as regards myself. Before doing so, he should have remembered that the case is before the Subunion, and anything he might say would prejudice, the Aotea's case. Sir, is that fair play? I think that you will agree that it is not. As to' Irisstatements in regard to the conduct of the barr ackers, that, is nothing to do witli me or my team; that is a matter for- the Sub-union to deal with. We axe desirous of having clean football, and whatever action is decided on they will have the hearty co-operation of the Aotea Footbail Club. I will, however, remark that Mr Monteith has no cause to grumble, as his team has always received fair play at the hands of the Dannevirke. public. Can the Dannevirke players, say the same- of the Woodville public? — I am, eic, TAI HEIiETA. (On behalf of Puro, captain Aotea Football Club.)
