FOOTBALL ROWDIES.
Some discreditable proceedings ' appear to have accompanied a football match at Dannevirke yesterday. These outbreaks . appear to be almost inseparable from football, and the controlling authorities should take the strongest possible measures to prevent these disgraceful exhibitions. Mr Rosenberg, of Woodville, who controlled the game, is known to be a particularly -fair anil impartial referee, and from what we can gather he had every justification for the step he took in ordering a player off the field. This matter should be dealt with firmly by the Sub-union. The rowdies who devote their time and energies to inciting members of rival teanis to rough play are particularly deserving of attention.
