TIPAPAKUKU SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The above committee met last evening. Present : Messrs H. Benton (chairman), "Webb (secretary), Williams, Herbert, Crooks, White and Caley. The headmaster's report was read and adopted. It stated that the present roll number of the school was 133, while the average attendance for the past four weeks, has been 117.6, 119, 118 and 116.9 respectively. The -report drew attention to the fact that a few children were not attending quite as well as. might he .-.expect-' ed. ' ■/ Correspondence was read from the Board as follows : Re increased porch' accommodation and other improvements, which the. Board, has agreed to have done. :... Re Education Board election. The Inspector's report on his recent surprise visit io .the school was read, and was considered by the committee to be highly satisfactory, the report showing organisation, tone, discipline, and method, etc.,- to be very good, arid buildings, etc., in good order. Various accounts were passed for payment. Messrs Caley and Herbert were appointed a visiting committee for the month. a. . The headmaster (Mr Quigley) forwarded a statement regarding the school concert held o» the 4th June. The- committee then considered the applications received by the Board for 'the. position of assistant-mistress art the school. The applications were of a very satisfactory nature, and after" very careful consideration the committee agreed to adhere to the Board's recommendation that Miss. Hurley, of Outranv, Otago, bo appointed to the position. Before adjourning arrangements WCro made for holding a dance in the school on Wednesday, JuJy.Yth.
