The Mayor wired to the ActingPremier to-day as follows: "Another deputation waited on me this morning, with the names of 180 wanting work, representing many on the. verge of destitution. Urgent measures are necessary for their relief. The- men arc earnestly desirous to work. I estimate- the number of unemployed at live to seven hundred. Can men be engaged for a month on the Main Trunk railway now the route- is decided?"
