Hawtiey as the selfish Horace Parker, arid Mr George Titheradge as the messenger from Mars/ whilst in Sydney at" the first production in December, 1900, these parts fell to- Mv Herbert . 'Ross ;and -Mr H. Stephens, with MrVni.-Hawtrey sis the tramp. Mr George Cross, who generally -figures as the hero in melodrama, will be seen as the selfish man of the world, whose regeneration the messenger had been destined to accomplish. He' is said to play it with a fine appreciation of the subtleties of the part, and makes the most ■of the scene, in which he was associated with the Marthian. The role ■will be entrusted to Mr Walter Power, who plays it with dignity and repose, another character that is .spoken of as being well portrayed fs that of the tramp by Mr John Hesford. Miss Ada Guildford will appear as Aunt Martha, while all the other parts are in ca_pable' hands. Mr H. Whaite has. furnished some admirable scenic settings, while the mechanical effectswere excellent.
