NO-LICENSE CONVENTION.

It was decided that the No-license League be urged to establish social clubs for young men with a vieiv to counteract the attraction provided by the licensed houses. The Rev. Dawson then read the annual report as amended. Reference was made to the visit of the Ameri; can, fleet; to Auckland during the year and the refusal of the entertainment committee to helji carry out the Admiral's desire that the men should not be given drink. This refusal led to indescribable scenes of drunkenness on the part of the American sailors and the New Zealaoiders. This had the effect of increasing the No-license vote. The report went on to refer to the, last local option poll, the increase in the drink bill, No-lioense in Oamaru and temperance instruction in schools. Mr A. S r Adams and the Rev. F, "NY. Isitt wished to be relieved of the duties of general secretaries of the alliance. Mr Isitt was elected to the position of general organiser for the dominion and the Rev. J. Dawson was elected secretary of the New. Zealand ' ~ The Rev. A. Doull moved, That the , amended constitution and rules of the New Zealand Alliance, of which notice has been given in terms of sections 12, 13, and 14 of' the Alliance Constitution of 1898, be now adopted and that upon the dominion convention agreeing to the constitution the New Zealand Alliance and dominion convention shall henceforth foe one and the same body, to be known as the "New Zealand Alliance." The motion was carried. An executive was appointed as follows : Messrs A. R. Atkinson, A. G. Bennett, R. G. Denton, T. -Finlay, W. T. KersleyV A. Hoby, B. Lowe, T. Nicol, E. W. Eeterick, J. Leigh, and the Revs. A. Dewdney, J. North, W. J. AVilliams, W. J.Comrie, F, W. Isitt, and Mr J. Brown. The next convention is to be held in Wellington next year.
