N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY.
The' N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company,- Ltd., report holding tlieir usual monthly sale at Makotuku yesterday. We yarded about 800 sheep and about 200 head' of cattle, .and are pleased to report a most successful sale. All the sheep, with the exception of two lines sold readily under the hammer at prices in favor of vendors on latorates. We quitted one of the "passed in" lots after the sale. The cattle accommodation was over-taxed, and we were unable to find pens for a number of (ot*. We hope to overcome this difficulty by next sale" date (July 7th) by adding additional pens.-- The qualit}- of our yarding of cattle was far ahead of any thing wo have seen at previous sales at this centre, and ma do values accordingly. We offered and sold a good entry of dairy cows and heifers, which made good values. We quote : Sheep — Butchers' wethers to 11s 4d, butchers' owes, 9s 2d to 9s 7d, empty ewes 7s, 7s 9d, 8s 3d, 8s lOd; small hoggets, 6s 9d, 7s lid -,7s 6d. Cattle— Fat heifers to £4, fat cows £3 55.. to £3 12s 6d, empty heifers £2 16s, heifers in calf £2 17s 6d. to £4 ss, polled Angus weaners (a nice lot) £2 4s, others £1 19s; 20-month steers £2 12s to £2 15s ; 3-year steers to £4 12s ; weaners (mixed) to 245; guaranteed dairy ■cows, £3 los to £5 6s. We offered a number of horses, but only two found new owners. A pony made £6 10s, and a useful farmer's horse, £14 10s ; porkers brought £1.
