STEWARDESSES' MEMORIAL.
[PEESB ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, last night. A meeting of women mtersted in the Penguin stewardesses' memorial was held this afternoon. The choirwoman, Mrs J. P. Luke, said the subscriptions totalled a little over £86. It had been "the object of the promoters to found and maintain a bed in the Wellington hospital, but the funds would not permit of this. It was decided that the money be equally divided between the Home of Compassion, Salvation Army JKome, Levin Memorial Home, and St. Mary.'s Children's Home. This will ensure, a. bed at any time for children of stewardesses or seamen, who will be given preference before others. Above each bod it is proposed to hang a tablet sotting forth that the beds a,re in mombory of the late Mrs Hope and Mrs Jacobs.
