THE WAIPAWA CONTEST.
Tho election for a Parliamentary representative -for the Waipawa electorate and a poll, to determine the fate of license or no-license in this district is proceeding to-day with unwonted vigour. The day bro"ke beautifully and has remained fine all day, with tho result that High street has borne a very animated appearance since 9 o'clock. The license and nolicense parties have been especially active and their operations have to some extent overshadowed those of the Parliamentary contestants, who have profited by the energy of these parties in bringing up voters to the poll. It is expected that there will be a very heavy poll, and a close run on the licensing question, while Mr Hall's supporters are confident that ho will secure another victory by a substantial majority. The results will be displayed in front of the Advocate office at the earliest possible moment.
