A considerable interest is being taken in the forthcoming election* for the Danneyirke County Council, and in to-dy's issue Mr John A. Robertson annonnces himself as a candidate for the Mangatoro riding. The manager of tho abattoir reported to the Borough Council last night that during the month there had been slaughtered at the abattoir 130 cattle, 534 sheep, 128 lambs, 54 pigs, 1 calf. Out of thia number tlrare had been condemned 6 cattle wholly and 2 partially, 4 sheep and 11 pigs, as unfit forhuman consumption.

JAUNDICE. This is a symptom rather than a disease.
