H. S. IZARD BANKRUPT CY.

The first meeting of creditors in the estate of H. S Izard, solicitor, was held at Greytown yesterday. Mr Skerrett appeared for the bankrupt, and stated that there was no written statement lodged. The debtor w&s examined at some length. The D.O. A. stated that he did not tbiuk anything more could be done at a public meeting He suggested a private meeting ot creditors where the trus-t accounts could be thoroughly examined. He proposed to offer the goodwill of the bankrupt's business, his law library, half-an-acre of land • adjoining his house, and certain other chattels for sale, as he thought they could be sold. Bankrupt had three racehorses (two in training) and as these were nominated for the Martinborough and Tauherenikau race meetings, he (ihe D.0. A.) proposed to accept the horses, and offer them for sale prior to respective races. It was decided to agree to the proposal. The meeting then a.ljourned until 2 o'clock when the trust accounts were gone into. The general public and the press were excluded from the remainder of the proceedings.

The Deputy Assignee intimated tliat in view ot the disclosures he would, when the books had been examined by an accountant, place the cas-e in the hands of the Crown solicitors at Masterton and be guided by them as to future action. Meantime, any creditor might institute proceedings against the debtor.
