The Bailway Commissioners are allowing a large reduction on the carriage of stock from, and fodder and fencing wire to the burned districts. Officers detailed b}r the Government report that the damage in some districts is not so severe as was reported, and only limited assistance will be needed. Burrawa supplies a long list of losses. Many, besides losing large areas of grass and much fencing, had valuable crops, sheds, and machinery destroyed. The biggest losersj are Damson 7000 acres of grass, £300 worth of hay; Hurley 10,000 acres of grass ; McGrath, grass, fencing, 1200 wethers and other stock; at Bye Park six houses were burned ; Morgan Bros. 10,000 acres of grass ; Tarenga Estate, £1000 worth of fencing, besides grass. At Tumut, besides the destruction of the settlers' crops over a wide area, about a dozen houses were burned. Arentz lost 2000 bushels of corn, and Tonkin crops and property to the value of £800.
