NORSEWOOD ROAD BOARD.

» The monthly meeting oE the Norsewood Road Board was held last evening. Present— Messrs Martin (chair), Olsen, Brieske, Engebretsen, and Thoresen. Mr J. J. Blackburn waited on the Board m reference to nativos and stock coming over the old road in the Rakautatahi Block. — It was resolved to urge upon the Road Department to hurry on their re-survey of the new road, which when finished*would meet the case. Correspbndence was read — From Mr E. Fredericksen, again urging the Board for abridge over the Manawatu, saying he could not get a crossing. — Messrs Martin, Brieske and Thoresen were appointed to inspect site and see what was required. From the Deputy-Inspector of Labor, re statutory half-holiday.— -Received. From Tait and Mills, re drain pipes. — Received. From Messrs J. Windsor and W. Thoresen, offering £1 and £3 respectively per annum for lease of road reserve for 21 years. — To be informed that the Board can only let from year to year. From Department of Roads, re amend> ments to Public Works Act. — Received. Tenders for the following works were opened :— Section 3, John Christoffersen, £27 10s.— Declined. Delivery of 250 yds metal on Ngamoko Main Road, Mcßoberts and Schmidt, 2s 4d ; F. Adrien 2s (accepted). For delivery of 150 yds Brieske's road, Mcßoberts and Smith, Is 6d (accepted) ; F. Adrien, 3s. For delivery of 150 yds Cantly's road,F. Adrien, 2s 3d; Mcßoberts and Schmidt, 2s 2d (accepted). ' It was resolved that Messrs Martin, Engebretsen and Brieske be a committee to arrange with the contractors for the carting of metal and to open up the watertables over the portions where the metal was taken out. Accounts amounting to £26 17s were passed for payment. The clerk was instructed to write to the Valuation Department inquiring why a charge of £11 15s was being made for compiling valuation roll as against £7 8s 6d for 1901.
