H.B A. and P. Autumn Show.

♦ Per Press Association. Napibb, April 22. The Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society held their second autumn show of fat stock, agricultural, farm, dairy and horticultural produce to-day. The day was beautifully flue, and between 4000 and 6000 people were present. The entries were nearly twice as numerous as last year. The display of fruit, flowers, and root crops was exceedingly fine, and showed the resources of the district in this direction. Grain and seeds were also good, as were the exhibits of factory butter. The fat stock exhibits were of excellent quality. Many of the exhibits were afterwards submitted to auction on the ground, the prices ranging from 12s for hoggets, up to 18s for the first prize pen of Shrop-shire-cross wethers. Pigs and poultry were amongst the best ever exhibited locally. The show on the whole was a credit to the province. Some splendid jumping was witnessed. The Maiden Leaping Match was won by A. Groome's Dick Turpin, with Miss Russell's filika second, and G. Bones' Maggini third.' Corporal Stewart's section of Hawke's Bay Mounted Rifles won the leading and jumping competition, with Corporal Well wood's section second ; while the latter section won the night alarm section competition, Corporal Stewart's section being second. In fat stock Mr Douglas McLean was the chief prize takeu in cattle ; Messrs Nelaou Bros., E H Tod, Thompson Bros., and Douglas McLean in sheep ; J C Main, R F Jackson, and R Well wood in pigs ; Canon Webb, Messrs Canning, Cbatnpney, T H Stewart, and Messrs G P Donnelly in poultry. Mrs Ninnoo won the first prize in the factory-made butter olass. In the class for best box factory-made butter, suitable for export — Neils Fikolaison (Alpha Dairy Factory, Ormondville) secnred first prize, Norsewood Co-operative Dairy Company second, Excelsior Dairy Supply Company (Napier) third. The first prize for best box factorymade powdered butter, in rolls or pats was also secured by Neils Nikolaison (Alpha Dairy Factory, Ormondville), Excelsior Dairy Supply Company 2, Norsewood Co-opeiative Dairy Company 3. In both these classes Mr Nikolaison had entered some excellent samples, and against such competition as he has met with, ho has every reason to feel satisfied with his exhibits. Sir William Russell and B Chambers were the prize taken in farmers' classes of grain ; Williams and Kettle, Ltd., and the N.Z Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., in grain and seeds (open clasaus) ; and Sir Wm. Russell and EH Tod in root crops. The Hawke's Bay Fruitgrowers' Company had a special display of freshgrown and perserved fruit, which was a sfaov XXX Xtsolf . Canon Webb secured 1, 2 and 3 for black Hamburg pullets; 1 and 2 for black Hamburg cockerels ; I and 2 for light Brahma cockrels and 1 and 2 for pullets of the same breed ; S. Siddet (of Dannevirke) secured firsts 'with silver Wyandotte pullet, and cockerel.
