Ormondville S.M. Court.

At the Ormondville Magistrate's Court, yesterday, before Mr A. Turnbull, S.M., the following cases were dealt with ;— G. Hamilton v. Edward and Henry 1 Hill, the defendants being charged with 1 illegally catching trout in the Manga-ta-wainihui stream, at Norsewood, on March 14th. Mr Hamilton gave cvi- • dence with regard to finding Henry , Hill in the water catching trout with a ' spear, while Edward Hill carried the fish. Henry Hill admitted the offence. The defendants were fined 40s each and i 9s costs, or 14 days' imprisonment in Napier gaol, one month being allowed • in which to pay the fine. Alice M. Ewart (Mr Hosking) v. Thos ; Ewart. Defendant was charged with having failed to provide maintenance > for the plaintiff (his wife). He pleaded ■ not guilty. The defendant, in reply to the Bench, said he earned 8s a day when in work. An order was made that 15s a week be paid to complainant, A solicitor's fee of 21s was allowed. The defendant was also ordered to enter into his own recognisances in £50> with one surety in £50, to obey the order of the Court, or in default six months' in Napier gaol. W. H. Joe Kilkolly ; claim £3 13s 7d. Judgment for plaintiff by default with costs 12s and solicitor's fee ss. W. H. Randerson (Mr Hosking) v. W. Dunn; claim £3 15s. Judgment for plaintiff by default with costs 6s and solicitor's fee ss. W. H. Randerson (Mr Hosking) v. Laurvig ; claim £22 16s 9d. Evidence having been given by defendant and Mrs Laurvig, judgment was given for the amount claimed with costs 36s and solicitor's fee £2 12s, execution to be stayed while £3 per month was paid, the Magistrate remarking that Laurvig ought to make some proper arrangement to keep his wife and family. John Mildon (air Hosking) v. A. J. Sabin ; claim £44 16s 3d. Judgment for plaintiff by default with costs 31s and solicitor's fee 31s. James Wright v Thos. Humphries, a claim for 13s for work done by plaintiff in May last. Evidpnco was given by plaintiff and <3efen<3aufc, the latter showin * receipt for 295, dated June 220 d, with the plaintiff's mark on it, for work done to that date. Plaintiff denied any knowledge of the receipt and the case was adjourned until May 20th to enable Mrs Humphries, who male out the receipt, to give evidence. Renewals of old age pensions were granted to the following: — K«eu Sophie Hansen, Ll6; Aunie Christine Stokke, LIT ; Martha Petersen Olsen, Ll4 ; Johannes Olsen, L9; Peter Liddle, L 1 8; Maria Elsie Johannesen, L5. New claims — Carl Christian Larsen, LlB. Constantino Walsh's claim was refused.
