The following cable has been received from the Agent-General, dated London, 21st inst : — Mutton market firm ; average price to-day of Canterbury mutton 4§d, scarce; Dunedin, Southland and Wellington Meat Export Company mutton, 4£d ; other North Island mutton, 3gd. There is a good demand for all lamb. Average price to-day, New Zealand lamb, Canterbury brand, is sgd to 6d ; New Zealand lamb, other than Canterbury, ssd. N.Z. lamb this season is giving satisfaction to buyers. Beef market steady. N.Z. hinds, 4jd, fores 3|d. Butter market steady. The price of butter to-day is 107s per cwt. Cheese market very firm. There is a good demand for cheese at 68s per cwt. Hemp market firm in spot deliveries. Price of good fair Wellington grade, on spot to-day, £34 : March-April shipments, £30 10s, quiet. Cocksfoot seed market very dull. N.Z. 171 b, standard 59s cwt. Coarse crossbreds of all grades this week are weaker. x
