FRIDAY, MARCH 20th. (Before Mr A. Turnbull, S.M ) Judgment was given for the plaintiff m the following undefended cases : — C. C. Neilsen (Mr Lloyd) v. W. Murray, claim £5 5s 8d and costs 28s 6d ; T. Bates (Mr Bamford for Mr Patterson) v. W. Munro, claim £10 14s 9d, and costs £I .lßs 6d ; Wylie and Co. (Mr Bamford for Mr Patterson) v. McGaffin, claim £5 Os 9d, and costs £1 18s 6d ; I. D. Barsby (Mr Lloyd) v. Tawhai . Rangiwhakaewa, claim £4 6s 6d, costs 10s. E. E. Prior was charged, on the information of Br F. J. De Lisle, District -Health Officer, with committing a breach of the Public Health Act by failing to notify a case of scarlet fever. It appeared that Mr Prior, had supplied medicine to a person who was suffering from scarlet fever, an infectious disease, and owing to an oversight had neglected to notify the District Health Officer. Mr Lloyd appeared for the informant, and did not press for a heavy penalty, the case being brought to direct the attention of the public to the provisions of the Public Health Act bearing on infectious diseases. Mr Prior pleaded guilty. He was fined ss, and ordered to pay 17s 6d costs. Hans Erioknen, a boy 13 years of age, was charged with theft, and pleaded guilty. He was convicted, and ordered to receive six strokes from a birch rod. A. Westerland was convicted and discharged on an information for being drunk. S. Sidet (Mr Bamford) v. E. P. Brogan (MrH. H. Blakistoir, claim £8 14s. This claim 'arose m connection with a dispute arising from the purohase of a property by defendant from the plaintiff, a disagreement having occurred when it came to the adjustment of accounts between the parties. The defendant put m a counter claim for £4 2s 6d. After hearing evidence, judgment was given for plaintiff for £7 5s Id with costs 365, and £1 8s lid of the counter claim was allowed. '0. Stuart (Mr H. M. BJakiston) v. A. S. JJarker (Mr J^loyd), claim £98 7sßd. This was a plaim for tl*e reepvery of 152 sheep and their wool, or the sum of £78 8s (their alleged 'value), £10 damages for detention thereof, £1 15s 6d posts of agreement, and £8 4s for wira supplied. The defendant confessed for _4l 13a 6d, being £7 3s 6d for wire supplied and £34 10s for 138 sheep, After hearing evidence judgment was reserved, G. Stuart (Mr H. M. Blakiston) v A. F. Merrin (Mr Lloyd); claim L 22 3s 9d, being Ll3 10s value of cows (m lien of their return) and L 5 damages for de» tcntion of same, L 6 value of dead cow, LI 14s for wire supplied aud 12s for mutton snpplied, less £.4 12s 3d for credits. Judgment was reserved.
