This, he understood, was done by most other Councils and he thought the practice should be adopted here as, m time to come, the collection would afford a valuable record. Tbe proposal was favoured by councillors and tbe clerk was authorised to procure the photos. The past Mayors of this borough are Messrs A. Mac Kay, W. Henderson, MePbee, and J. Druinmond. Mr O. E. Hugo cave a lecture m the Oddfellows' Hall last evening on " Faces." There was a fair attendance, and the lecturer received a most patient hearing, showing the deep interest which is manifested m the subject of physiognomy. Mr Hugo dealt at length with characters of men as revealed by their faces, and m order to support his contentions he exhibited photographs of some of the "worst criminals m Australia. At the conclusion of his lecture Mr Hugo invited several of the audience to ascend the stage, and the invitation being responded to by three ladies and four gentlemen, he gave a description of their characters according to their feq.ti.irps.
