From where rain and mud predominate, still the chainless all right ! Messrs Yerex and Jones, Wellington, — Dear Sirs, — You will be gratified to know that the Columbia Chainless Bicycle you supplied to me fifteen months ago has proved to be an excellept machine. Since I bought it it has travelled some four thousand miles over extremely bad roads us well as over tailings and riverbeds. It has been in collisions whiob have buckled the head of the frame right in, yet the driving gear runs as true and well to-day as when the maohine was new ; the bevel gear is not worn to any appreciable extent, in fact, some of the teeth have not yet worn smooth. I have just been examining the axles and ball races in crank and wheel and find they show no tigns of wear whatever. I expected the bevel gear would cause a side pressure that would be somewhat severe ou the axles, but I must now agree with what my engineer friends have often assured me, viz., that the bevel gear is positively easier on frame and wheels than a chain would be. I . have to get a bicycle for my children and while it goes very much against the grain to pay so high a prize for a maohiue for thera to knock about, still it must be a chainless or none. I cannot go back to what must soon be the obsolete principal of the' chain wheel, and as there is ao choice left for nie I have ordered, another Chainless Columbia through Johnston and Co. here. Yours very truly, ' It. Wild. E. A. Hansom, Agent for Chainless Columbia's.
