Mr Hunter had an excellent meeting here on Tuesday night. There were 7CO present, including 100 ladies. The Mayor presidod. Mr Hunter was questioned at length. The chairman refused to put three questions sent up by Mr Taylor, J.P., as he said they wore rather expressions of Mr Taylor's personal vie\v3 and occupied as much as a page of foolscap each. Mr Taylor insisted they should be put, but the chairman declined to do so unless the questions were condensed and put in direct form. Mr Hunter said he would undertake to answer any question which the chairman considered proper. On the motion of Mr Richards, seconded by Mrs Moore, a hearty vote of thanks and confidence was accorded Mr Hunter. An attempt was made to get up three cheers for Mr Seddon, but it was a failure.
Mr Carlile addressed the electors of Mangatainoka on Friday evening and got a voto of thanks only, with an expression of regret that he was standing in opposition to the Liberal candidate- Mr Carlile said he hoped to get the votes of both skies. A vote of confidence was proposed but lost. At Mangaatua on Monday night Mr Hunter got a vote of confidence, one of thanks only being lost.
