ARCHBISHOP'S BIRTHDAY
The former Bishop of Auckland, Archbishop Averill, who has resided in Auckland since 1914, will be 80 years old to-morrow. Testimonials to his notable services to his church and to the community were paid when he retired from office as Primate of New Zealand some five years ago. Archbishop Averill will preach to-morrow morning in St. Mary's Cathedral which will be celebrating its patronal festival, together with the 85th anniversary of the dedication of the first St. Mary's Cathedral by Bishop Selwyn on October 14, 1860. The Bishop of Auckland, the Right Rev. W. J. Simkin, will preach at the evening service.
