SHIPPING OF MEAT
Emergency Methods Under Consideration SWIFT CHANGE UNLIKELY N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 5. Consideration is at present being given in London to the removal of the emergency methods for refrigerated sea transport of meat, chiefly the telescoping of carcases and deboning. Any immediate change is regarded as unlikely. The need for the conservation of shipping space still remains the dominant factor, as Britain still requires all available food cargo capacity. The telescoping of carcases, which has not been entirely appreciated by butchers here, will be the subject of a general discussion in November, including the New Zealand Meat Board representatives. The question of the future of deboned meat is unlikely to reach the discussion stage before early next year.
