WOMEN'S HOSIERY CARDS
Over 300,000 new ration books will be issued in Auckland during the latter half of.'this montl rationing paration for the next r B the npriod which commences at tne beginning of November. New hosiery cards for women will also be issued. About the same size as the pieseni hook the new one will cover 12 months It differs from the existing book in making P^°y/^ on q °" ,? and atp rouDons for butter, sugai ana fet whfch in the past, have been grouped together for rationing purposes. The major part of the new book consists of meat coupons, of which each individual has the right tn use six a week. Household linen supplies are provided for, and there is a sheet of spare coupons, not to be used until instructions are given. There are no coupons marked "wool" in the new book. As clothing coupons may be used for either wool or clothing, there is no necessity to mark the coupons separately, me total number of these coupons remains unchanged. Instructions about the use of the new ration book appear on page 4, instead of page l, as in the present book. A coupon calendar printed on the back cover shows food coupon numbers for eacn week during the rationing year. Butter coupons are again numbered 1 to 52, but every fourth coupon cannot be used so long as the present reduced ration is in force. , , On the new hosiery cards for women and girls over the age of 16 there are two coupons to meet w months' requirements. After the expiry of coupon XlO4 on the present card all the remaining coupons on this card will be cancelled. Elderly people whose age entitled them to the extra butter ration last year receive with their new ration books a sheet of coupons which represents a further three months' additional butter allowance of two ounces a week. Those who have just reached 70 years of age must give evidence of their a'ge before they receive the extra butter. Special ration books include one for expectant mothers, issued on production of a medical certificate, one for children under 5 years of. ?.ge, and one for children between Jive and 10 years of age.
