SCHOOL BOXING

SEDDOX MEMORIAL TITLES Keen and spirited contests were witnessed at the Seddon Memorial Technical College boxing championships, held this week. There was a record attendance of parents and friends at the tournament, which was organised by the college boxing committee. Messrs. H. P. Leeves, M. A. Ohison and A. B. Adams. The referee was Mr. E. Armishaw and the judges were Messrs. H. Brien and D. C. Cleverley. The teams' contest. Engineering Department v. Industrial, resulted in a win for Engineering, five to four. At the conclusion of the evening the trophies were presented by Mr. F. C. Pace, chairman of the board of managers. Mr. Pace also thanked the members of the Auckland Boxing Association for its valuable assistance.

The Burke Memorial Cup for the most scientific boxer was awarded to J. Larkin. The best loser's medal was awarded to M. Tierney, who put up a very game display against R. Teague in the lightweight division.

Results were:—Juniors: Flea-weight (6.0 and ur.d'.r). C. Jenkins; mosqulto-welpht (6.7 and under), B. Brown; midget-weight (10 and under), L. Fowler; paper-weight (7.7 and under), I. Sento s: Bantam-weight (8.0 and under), h. Jenkins; feather-weight (8.7 and under). W. Wangfoid; light-weight (9.0 and under). R. Teague; welterweight (9.7 and under), W. Vivian; middleweight (10.0 and under), J. Larkin; light-heavy-weight (10.7 and under), W. Sorby; heavy-weight (11.0 and over), G. Counsell.

MOUNT ALBERT CHAMPIONS The annual boxing competitions of the Mount Albert Gramma: School were held this week. The open championship was won by T. C. Enrcl and the award for the most scientific boxei went to B. F. Alckin. Results were:— Senior Division.—Under 6.7 R. Pearson; 7.0. R. Pearson; 7.7, W. R. Hunt; 8.0. B. F. Alckin: 8.7, T. Shanahan; 9.0, J G. Wharfe; 9.7, J. L. Dockray; 10.0. E. A. Dow; 1C 7, M. V. Harris: 11.0 M. E. Weeks; 11.1, A. J. Carmicliael; 12.0, M. Burgess; 12.7, T. C. Engel.

Tt-e judging of the finals was done by Messrs. G. Bush and A. B. Joplin, ct the Auckland Boxing Association, which provided the ring.
