BIRKENHEAD REQUEST

"When does the Housing Department propose to proceed wrtn tne erection of State houses in Birkenhead?" was the text of a question directed to the Minister of works, Mr. Semple, by Mr. H. T Morton (Nat., Waitemata), in the House of Representatives yesterday. In a note to his question, Mr. Morton stated that not one State rental house had ever been built in Birkenhead.
