Two upsets occurred in the first round of the National professional Golf Association's championships at Dayton, Ohio. Jack Grout defeated the defending champion. Bob Hamilton, 5 and 4. and Clarence Doser beat Juc McSpaden, 5 and 4. Other winners in a 36 holes match included Byron Nelson, who beat Gene Sarazen. 4 and 3; Denny Shute. Sam Byrd, K. Y. Laffoon, Johnny Revolta and Vic Ghczzi.-
