DEVONPORT PLAN
MEMORIAL HALL CAMPAIGN
Proposed activities of the Devonport Civic and Social League were outlined at a meeting called to extend an invitation to local organisations to accept representation on the league. The Mayor, Mr. J. R. Miller, said that the principal function of the league would be the promotion of social activities of a civic nature, and the launching of a municipal war memorial hall campaign. It was proposed to provide accommodation for youth welfare work, dances and Orphans' Club and similar gatherings, as well as a meeting room suitable for sports bodies and local organisations. It was suggested that the hall should include a hall of memory for Devonport citizens who had given their lives in the war.
