NEW CHAIRMAN
DISABLED MEN'S LEAGUE
MR. A. ROSSER RETIRES
After nine years as chairman of the local committee of the Disabled Servicemen's Re-establish-ment League, Mr. Arthur Rosser, the Government nominee, resigned from the position at a meeting of the committee to-day. Many tributes were paid to his invaluable and selfsacrificing services on behalf of the disabled men, and in the interests of the league. Reference was made to the rapid extension of the league's work in Auckland following the outbreak of the present war, and of Mr. Rosser's sound judgment in regard to trade and training operations.
Mr. Rosser said he had derived much pleasure from his long association with the league, whose aims and objects were to assist men whose whole lives had had to undergo a radical change following disabilities suffered in the service of their country. The league had a very vital part to play in the successful rehabilitation of men suffering physical disabilities.
Mr. T. H. Bowie, representing the Employers' Association, was elected chairman in place of Mr. Rosser. The other members of the committee are: R.S.A., Messrs. A. P. Postlewaite (hon. treasurer), C. N. Snedden and Sinclair Rekl; Provincial Patriotic Committee, Mr. N. R. Chapman; metropolitan patriotic, Mr. J. B. Johnston; war ■ amputees, Mr. T. C. Browne; South African war veterans, Mr. C. G. Macindoe; Federation of Labour, Messrs. A. H. Dixon and T. E. Seddon Memorial Technical College, Mr. F. G. Fowler; Joint Council, Mr. J. E. Beachen; Manufacturers' Association, Mr. H. Hitchen.
The Government representative to replace Mr. Rosser has not yet been appointed.
Mr. L. V. Sullivan, of the league headquarters, Wellington, is acting as temporary district officer pending an appointment in place of Mr. E. Woodhouse, who resigned.
