TURKEY'S CASE
FUTURE OF STRAITS
Question For International
Settlement
Rec. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, July 11
Turkey's territorial integrity and unconditional self-determination were basic conditions of her future relations with Russia, said the Turkish Foreign Minister. Mr. Hasan Saka, at a Press conference in London to-day. The future of the Dardanelles and revision of the Turkish-Soviet Pact, .he added, were two distinct questions which must be treated separately. As far as Turkey was concerned the question of frontier revision did not arise and any
modification of the status of the Straits must be a matter for international settlement. If the Montreux Convention should be amended the new status must take into account the rights of maritime passage, also the security of riparian rights of the Black Sea and Turkey's sovereign rights. The acting-Prime Minister, Mr. Eden, conferred to-day with the Turkish Foreign Minister, who is returning to Turkey from San Francisco, where he attended the United Nations Conference.
The Exchange Telegraph diplomatic correspondent says it is believed that Mr. Saka will remain in London until Mr. Eden returns from the Big Three conference at Potsdam, when it' will be possible to discuss more comprehensively the future of the Dardanelles.
