COMMUNICATIONS MEETING British Official Wireless Rec. 1 p.m. RUGBY; July 11. Following the visit Lord Reith paid to the Dominions, India and Southern Rhodesia at the beginning of this year, a Commonwealth tele'communications conference is to be held hi London to consider future organisation and development of the Commonwealth system, says a Treasury statement. The conference will open July 16 and its conclusions will be submitted to the Governments concerned for their consideration. Lord Reith was head of a British mission on Empire cable and radio communication which Visited Australia and New Zealand early this year to confer with the Commonwealth and Dominion Governments. Now Director of Combined Operations in the Material Department of the British Admiralty, Lord Reith was the first general manager of the 8.8.C. and later its director-general. He was also the first chairman of British Overseas Airways Corporation, and was once Minister for Transport. -. . " The mission included Sir Edwin Herbert, Director-General of the Postal and Telegraph Censorship Department in the Ministry of Information, and Sir Stanley AngWin, Assistant-Director-General and Engirieer-in-Chief of the British Post Office.
