A SUCCESSFUL YEAR
AVONDALE JOCKEY CLUB
A profit of £3407 is shown in the annual report of the Avondale Jockey Club after making provision for rates, land and income tax, social and national security, and allowance for depreciation. The main items of expenditure are rates, taxes, insurance and rent, £18,407; stakes, £16,015; salaries, wages and general expenses and maintenance, £5358. Gate receipts and the sale of race books netted £9165, nomination and acceptance fees amounted to £3372, and the revenue from totalisator transactions reached £32,678. . . No election will be necessary for the committee, but a ballot will be taken for, the office of president, there being two nominees, Mr. J. E. Wells, who has filled the position for several years, and Mr. T. F. Jeffries. For five seats on the committee, Messrs. F. Coe, T. F. Jeffries, E. J. Morrison, W. Stewart (retiring members) and A. Higgins have been nominated. The other retiring member, Mr. G. Baildon, is not seeking re-election. The annual meeting will be held on July 24. :
