TINNED FRUIT RATION

In commenting to-day on the fact that a quantity of tinned fruit would be available to the public during July and' August, the Food and Rationing Controller, Mr. A. J. Costelloe, said there were a number of undischarged returned servicemen who were not in possession of ration books, but who would obtain their supplies of rationed goods on emergency coupons. In such cases storekeepers . were permitted to supply one tin of fruit when servicemen were purchasing their month's supply of sugar during either July or August. When retailers returned Y9 coupons to the Rationing Office after the expiry date they would be required to submit a statement showing the number of tins supplied to servicemen under such circumstances.
