VEGETABLE GROWING
STATE GARDENS CLOSED DOWN
O.C. WANGANUI, this day. The Government market garden at Wanganui, which the Wanganui Hospital Board will take over shortly, is the last still in production of those established in this district for the growing of vegetables for the armed forces.
Several others in the district and in other parts of the Dominion have been closed, said the supervisor for the Agriculture Department, Mr. F. M. Talbot. The nearest other Government market garden to Wanganui still under production is at Raetihi, where vegetables are being harvested for the forces. No decision has yet been made regarding the continuance of that project.
