SIXTH AIRBORNES
OFFICERS AND MEN HONOURED
Rec. 10 a.m. LONDON, June 28. The King decorated Major-General Eric Bols, commander of the Sixth Airborne Division, and 114 officers and men of the division at a special investiture at Buckingham Palace. The division landed in Normandy from the skies on D day and held the British left flank near Caen Canal, after which it fought the Germans in the Ardennes offensive, then dropped into the middle of the enemy defences east of the Rhine and spearheaded the advance toward Hamburg.
