CLAIMS UNSETTLED
TAUPIRI COAL MINES, MMITED.
"The company-s claims on the Government under the Waikato Control Emergency Bcgulntions have not been settled since control was imposed in 1942." said the chairman, Mr. F M. Winstone. at the annual meeting of Taupirl Coal Mines, Ltd., to-day. "The admitted promises of responsible Ministers as to payment of subsidies and settlement of average proms have not yet been implemented. The amounts covered by the unsettled claims will, of course, bear income tax at the maximum rate, so that «je net amount to the company will not greatly affect the financial position. Nevertheless, the r delavs and uncertainly in a matter which could be easily and quickly settled are a just cause ° f "FTom a 'the gross realisations from sale of coal (including subsidies), amounting to 20/7 Ser ton labour receives 17/2 per ton, other mine ™-ts reaulre 4/3 per ton, the State takes 3,3 per ton for taxation, and the dividend to. shareholders uses up the remaining 1/ a ton ■ Mr. Winstone added that relations between the manSn 6 andl the men employed to the company hid continued throughout the year to be on a J. B. Donald and P. L. G. West, were re-elected.
