SOLDIERS' FIANCEES
CASH PAYMENT QUESTION
Parliamentary Reporter. ' WELLINGTON, this day. "Is it the policy of the Government that before an ex-serviceman can bring his fiancee to New Zealand he must first lodge £150 with the Bank of New Zealand?" asked Mr. W. Sullivan (Nat., Bay of Plenty) in a notice of question to the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, in the House of Representatives to-day.
Mr. Sullivan inquired whether, if that were the policy, the Minister would endeavour to reduce the amount, as it fell heavily on returned men, who found it difficult to provide such a large amount of cash.
