BAG TAKEN FROM CAR
LABOURER ADMITS THEFT
The theft of a leather brief bag and contents, of a total value of £5, was admitted by Desmond Halliday (29) a labourer, who appeared before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court to-day. Sub-inspector Sparks said complainant left his car parked in Lome Street on the night of June 20 and later found his brief bag was missing. The bag and contents were later recovered. Halliday had previously been in trouble. An appeal for leniency was made by Mr. A. Hall Skelton, who said Halliday's troubles could be attributed to drink. The magistrate ordered Halliday to be detained for reformative purposes for six months.
