GRASS-GRUB PROBLEM
INVESTIGATION IN AUSTRALIA
Investigations into the grass-grub problem were made in Australia by Dr. David Miller, chief entomologist to the Cawthron Institute, who returned to New Zealand by air this week. The control of the grub through parasites was on* of the many features of the problem inquired into by Dr. Miller, who explained the possibilities of securing such parasites for dealing with the grub menace in New Zealand.
- While in Australia, Dr. Miller attended a conference of entomologists at which the scope of certain new insecticides was discussed. Problems relating to the control of the weed known as St. John's Wort by means of beetles, and methods of dealing with the white butterfly, the diamond-back moth and timberdestroying insects were also discussed in the course of Dr. Miller's visit.
