WAR CRIMINALS TALKS NEXT WEEK
LONDON MEETING
Four Major Powers To Settle Procedure Rec. 10 a.m. LONDON, June 22. The four-Power conference on war crimes and on the trial of major war criminals is expected to begin in London next week, says the Press I Association's diplomatic correspondent. Judge Jackson, who has returned from America, is representing the United States, and Sir David Maxwell Fife is representing Britain. The French have appointed a representative for both the conference and the trial of major war criminals. It is hoped the Russian representative will be appointed shortly. The first task of the conference will be consideration of the lists of major war criminals. Decision will be made on the composition and procedure of the Courts by whom they are to be tried. It is understood the American Government has made a proposal, which has created considerable interest, for the trial of major war criminals by an international military tribunal. .
NAZI ENVOY FOR TRIAL Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, June 22. The Daily Telegraph Copenhagen correspondent says Dr. Werner Best, former German plenipotentiary in Denmark, was, yesterday flown to London where it is understood he will be held as a war criminal. (Best was arrested on May 21 by the Allied Military Commission.)
