SCRUB OR WASH?

INSTRUCTION TO WARDSMAID

Whether a wardsmaid had been requested to scrub or wash the floors of a ward was the question in dispute at a sitting of the Auckland Industrial Manpower Committee yesterday afternoon, when the Auckland Hospital Board appealed against the refusal of the manpower officer to allow the dismissal of the wardsmaid.

The lady superintendent, Miss Winifred Delugar, said that the maid refused to wash the ward floors. In evidence, the, maid said that she had been asked to scrub the floors and had refused because such work was outside the scope of her duties. The committee allowed the appeal.
