TENNIS TOURNEYS

RESUMPTION RECOMMENDED Notification was received at last night's meeting of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association delegates that the management committee of the New Zealand Association was recommending to their association's annual meeting in August that the North Island, South Island, and New Zealand championships be held next season.

In regard to the Wellington Association's move to have the present existing nine zones in the Wilding Shield competition reduced to four, it was decided to take no action.

The coaching committee submitted a report advocating the resumption of classes for juniors every Saturday at Windmill Road courts, and suggested that schools in that vicinity be asked to enter teams in a competition for children on Saturday mornings. Coaches are also to go to cliibs, and an effort is to be made to obtain the assistance of leading senior Auckland players. A three-part film strip compiled by the Canterbury Association and produced in conjunction with the New Zealand Government Film Studios was shown to delegates. Hayr to Auckland, it was decided to appoint Messrs. I. Macarthur and T. Varley to take their places on the N.Z.L.T.A. management committee as resident delegates for Auckland U1 The matter of repairs and improvements to Stanley Street accommodation was referred to a special sub-committee to obtain tenders for the work.
