SOCCER CONTROL
EDUCATIONAL FILMS
KING'S BIRTHDAY GAMES
Arrangements for the screening of football educational films at the Nelson Street school on the evening of Friday, June 15, were made at last evening's meeting of the Control Board of the Auckland Football Association, Mr. D. A. Williams presiding. It was stated that efforts would be made to screen the films on other nights during the same week Advice was received from the South Auckland Association stating that its team would be travelling to the city on the King's Birthday to play Auckland B in the curtain-raiser to the match between Auckland A .and the Navy for the Drummond Cup. , ■ The Referees' Association wrote it considered that in dealing with the case of A. Ellis, a Waterside player who was ordered off on March 19 for striking an opponent, the judicial committee had failed in its duty. It suggested that the case be reopened. Following a lengthy discussion, the Control Board decided that the case be reheard, as the judicial committee was not properly constituted for its meeting. Until the case was heard it was agreed that Ellis be permitted to take part in matches. (At last week's meeting it was decided to approve of the finding to severely reprimand Ellis.) A protest against the transfer of R. G. Disney from Thistle Club to R.N.Z.A.F. (Ardmore) was received from the former club, it being stated that he was one of its regular players. The secretary reported that Service clubs had the first call on any players. Members of the Control Board were invited by North Shore Club to a patriotic gala day at Devonport on Saturday, when North Shore would play a Navy team.
