Americans Press Forward In Philippines
BOMBERS WIDELY ACTIVE
Rec. 5 p.m. WASHINGTON, April 13. The ISSth Regimental Combat Team advanced twelve miles on the main road from Camalig on Luzon, in the Philippines, capturing the road junctions of Guinobtatin and Ligao and reaching Oas, says General Mac Arthur's communique. Other forces from the north reached Mulay, four miles beyond Calauag. The 25th Division is steadily advancing against stubborn opposition in ' the mountains south of Balete Pass. Numerous enemy infiltration parties in this sector were destroyed. The 33rd Division captured Mount Calugon and are within three miles of Baguio City.
The 40 tli Division on Negros pressed eastward into the rugged central range against trapped enemy forces, over-running the enemy's main supply depot near Manzanares. An American division is pursuing a dispersed enemy garrison on Bohol Island, which is now under control.
Bombers struck at Formosa on successive days, also at Mindanao targets, while patrol planes blockading the China Sea struck at shipping at Swatow, inland targets in the Yangtze Kiver valley, at Nanking, and a bridge on the Indo-China coast. Aerial operations were continued against the Celebes, the Wewak sector, Bougainville and Rabaul.
The United States Navy Department. states that submarines sunk 15 more Japanese vessels, bringing the total for the war to 1008.
