AUCKLAND BRANCH NEW OFFICERS ELECTED There was a very large attendance- at the annual meeting of the Rugby Referee's Association. The president, Mr. G. Peace, presided, and his report indicated that the past season had been a successful, though arduous, one owing to the absence of many members with the forces. Well over a thousand games had been controlled, which necessitated several members taking three games each on a Saturday. Two members, Messrs. W. Inglis and A. McLuckie, had been killed in action and the usual mark of respect was paid to their memory. The executive put forward a series of amendments to the rules governing classification and appointments and these were discussed at length. It was decided to forward to the New Zealand Rugby Referees' Association a remit recommending that referees be empowered to put the ball In the scrummage. The election of officers resulted as follows: — President. Dr. L. H. Briggs; vice-president. Mr. D. y. Moore; secretary, Mr. T. V. Robinson; treasurer, Mr. J. H. Land: executive committee. Messrs. W.
