TAIHAPE TRIP
DIGGER CRICKETERS' TOUR • The Auckland R.S.A. Cricket Association tour of Taihape and district at the Easter holidays proved to be a huge success. Matches were played against the Taihape Cricket Club, who fielded Wellington representative players and others of high repute. The match against the local R.S.A. was of the highest standard, and long to be remembered by all who took part. The game at Waiouru Camp was also played in a great sporting spirit. The hospitality accorded to the tourists was first class—not a dull moment. The Utiku township cricket team gave the players a great welcome at a dance, where they met the Wellington Taxi Cricket team, who were also in the district. The trip was a forerunner of many more to come. There will be lots of good tales told later on, as the practical jokes were many, as the manager and secretary can testify. The success of the tour was due, in every way, to Mr. Neville Pearson, general secretary of the Diggers' Cricket Association.
