SUPPLY OF STOVES

' PRODUCTION PROGRAMME SHORTAGE OP MATERIAL. A statement that arrangements had been made for the production of 16,550 electric stoves during 1945, was made by the Factory Controller in a letter received at a meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board yesterday from the assistant-secre-tary of the Electric Power Boards ana Supply Authorities' Association. It would he impossible for that number to be completed during the year, said the chairman of the board, Mr. S. J. Harbutt. He added that the principal firm engaged in the production of the stoves had not so far been able to secure the necessary material and would probably not be able to do so before June or July.

A copy of a letter sent to the controller by the assistant-secretary of the association was also received at the meeting. The letter stated that although there had been statements over the past few months that an adequate supply of stoves would be made available, electrical supply authorities in New Zealand were still unable to meet present requirements.

The Factory Controller, in his letter, replied that he had made arrangements for the production of 16,550 stoves during 1945, and said that, even if the manufacture of that number was not completed, it was considered that the quantities made would cover the requirements of new houses.
